SADIE marks the third beer in Beachwood Brewing’s 2014 series of barrel-aged beers. Rich accents of caramel and vanilla are carefully intertwined with delicate notes of oak and toasted oats. This inspired beer is remarkably adventurous and delightfully spirited—just like its namesake.

Sampled from the tap at Aces n Ales Tenaya Way. Pours a clear amber brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has lots of sweet grains and toffee with a great bourbon note underlying. Flavor is similar melding bourbon, sweet grains, toffee and caramel together well.

Bottle at the RBWG 2015 Grand Tasting. Pours deep brown with a creamy, beige head. The nose holds lots of brown sugar, ripe fruits and well toasted grains. Medium to big sweet flavour with some bready fruit cake, berries, light chocolate, grapes. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sugary dark malts in the finish, with more notes of chocolate, low roast, modest bitterness, more fruitcake. Very tasty.

Bomber received in trade. Thank you Andrew! Pours hazy deep reddish brown with a small frothy tan head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty with caramel, toffee, toasted oatmeal flakes, vanilla fudge, charred wood, caramelized nuts, coconut milk, minerals and bourbon alcohol. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter and heavy malty. Mouthfeel is fat, soft, round, , tiny astringent, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, caramelized nuts, minerals and bourbon alclhol. Bit hot but I love the rich toffee malt base and the caramlized nut and charred wood notes from the barrel treatment is great. Lovely! --- Beer merged from original tick of SADIE on 16 Jan 2016 at 14:35 - Score: 8. Original review text: Lovely rich toffee malt base with tasty caramelised nuts and charred wood barrel notes. This brew pours a murky reddish-brown color with a medium foamy light beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oaky bourbon, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of bourbon, oaky vanilla, chocolate malt and a bit of dark fruit. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and roast malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

22 oz. bottle, pours a reddish dark brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out perfumey notes, bourbon, and light vanilla. Flavour brings out loads of bourbon and vanilla, with a bready caramel malt backbone that holds up well. Complex and well-balanced with no undesirable notes. Very good.
