Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, yeast, raisins, caramel, fruity notes, nuts, some brown sugar and dark chocolate, a certain spicy note. Flavour is medium sweet with a surprisingly bitter finish. Medium bodied. Very nice, I like how the bitterness compliments the sweet flavour.

Notes from October 2009 Post-It edition. 7/13/09 BB: December 08 Too long? I hope not. Once I take a hearty sip, the fatty wine glass quickly gets replaced by my everyday pint. It just drinks better. Inches of stiff cream-colored craters that take their time settling out. A sort of mahogany color. Cloudy, but so far pretty decently decanted. I can't hold off the sediment for long though. Macerated raisins, maple syrup, concord grape juice, & light resiny/herbal hops. Maple syrup, prune juice, cola, & smoke. Some muted earthy & rindy hops that linger. Hint of clove. A twinge of newspaper that is totally my fault for sitting on this. Full gulps of dark cherry. Barely a touch tart. A satisfied smile. Surprisingly less thick then I assumed it would be. Frothy, with moderate carbonation. Disturbed yeast makes it just a bit dirty. Alcohol is intertwined & never gets hot or isolated. This empty glass is just as heavy as some still full in my fridge. A very nice brew. :)

Bottle, 0.33l. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit, bread and yeast. Pours cloudy dark brown color with thin quickly diminishing light brown head, yeast residue and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts light to medium sweet caramelly, slightly burned and a bit grassy, following is dried fruity and yeasty with smooth mouthfeel and mild bitter finish. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. Not too sweet & very drinkable despite its high ABV…

Deep dark brown color, big brown frothy head. Yeasty aroma overpowering fruitiness. Very yeasty flavor with roasted malt and cherry. Very disappointing, not well balanced beer.

Old rating, @ Demevallei, Aarschot. Hazy brown colour, beige foam. Sweet plums, chocolate, some anise. Rather tasty brown beer.

Bottle at De Heeren van Liedekercke, shared with Anke and Pieter.
Pours cloudy dark brown (almost black) with a small, off-white head. The aroma contains brown sugar, caramel, dark chocolate, licorice, malt, some spices. It tastes medium to heavy sugary sweet (and this does not contain candi sugar?) and light spicy bitter. Some warming alcohol. Medium body, slick/sticky texture, fizzy carbonation. Remarkable how this doesn't become really cloying, but remains quite tasty.
