Good Morning. You’ve woken up dead. You’re in ruins. But don’t be discouraged. Here’s a black stout to brighten your day. It’s deadly delicious with dark chocolate cake aromas and hints of dried fruit, licorice, and coffee. It’s a beast of a beer you’ll crave from beyond the grave.

In der Nase Rosinen, Schokolade, im Trunk sehr bekömmlich, Schoko, Zartbitter, keine Spur alkoholisch, Espresso, dürfte aber trotzdem eine Spur deutlicher sein.

Bottle. Milk chocolate aroma. Thick mouthfeel. Very malty sweet and alcoholic. Chocolate, raisin and roasted malt in the flavor. Roast bitter aftertaste. Powerful stout with a dominant chocolate flavor.

355ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty and herbal-grassy, hoppy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, coffee, green onion, a peppery-spicy touch, liquorice overtones. Taste is minimally sweet dark malty, spicy, notes of vanilla, hints of chocolate, herbal-grassy hoppy overtone swith moderate bitterness. Creamy texture, super smooth and soft palate, soft to flat carbonation. Not my cup of tea.

From the bottle. Virtually black with a creamy, beige crown. Aroma is dark chocolate, fudge, prunes, vanilla. Taste is bittersweet, trending lightly bitter at the finish where the hops becomes more pronounced. Body is to the heavier side of medium but a bit lighter than usual for the style. Pleasant.

Put away through the summer after getting this 12 oz bottle in Vegas at a Total Wine over March Madness. Chilly outside, time is right. In it goes into my New Belgium tulip, ideal for imperial stouts. A body blacker than Hades and a touch of a tan head, no real surprise. A sniff follows, Goodness, is that swell or what. Chocolate, berries, alfalfa, dark earth, trust me on this. But it is the taste I am here for, here we go. Charcoal, burnt oak, semi-sweet chocolate, slick leather in taste and feel. No alcohol overbearance I can. Decent but far from being top of my list for imperial stouts.
