Saison from Barcelona, slow gusher (not the first time I experience that with this brewery) with lacing, thick and frothy, egg-white head over a deep orangey blonde, misty robe with a bronze-ish hue, getting darker in the end when the sediment is added. Aroma of freshly cut garden weeds, grapefruit peel, soapy starfruit, pistacchio nuts, baker’s yeast, apricot, grape, caramel, brown bread, thyme, tulips, camomile, hay - in all, ’weedy’ and ’rural’ enough to announce a credible saison. Crisp onset, pleasant fruitiness with hints of redcurrant, green plum and some subdued sweet peach, medium carbonated; supple, light but still ’filling’ mouthfeel with an agreeably, lightly bready malt backbone with a thin toasted edge in the end; drying, ’noble’ hop bitterish finish, bit resinous and spicy, floral with hints of dried grapefruit peel, aromatic, some lingering fruitiness. Quite a lot of flavor for a below 5% beer, very refreshing and ’Belgian’ in its make-up - have a point for understanding the difficult to grasp essentials of the saison style.

Opalescent dark orange to amber colour, huge yellowish off-white head; aroma of peach, green apple, barnyard, hay and leather notes; taste is the same with sourish dry white wine and peppery notes; ideal for a hot summer day, though very far from being a perfect beer

Cloudy medium amber colour, tall foamy beige head, half-way lasting, fair to good lacing. Aroma pale malts, orange, lemon, tangerine, spicy notes, hint of caramel. Mild taste, medium sweet and bitter, malty, citrusy, bit roasty, with average to long duration. Dry finish, bit dusty, spicy notes, medium body, oily texture, smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation. More like a pale ale, crisp and smooth.

Bottle. Pours mahogany, with a creamy head. Aroma is yeast with notes of dark berries, and malty notes of caramel. Light to medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is wooden yeast and roasted malts with cereals and caramel. Rather boring.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 17 Feb 2016) Amber colour with creamy, beige head. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of orange peel, spicy yeast, apricots and slight hints of brett. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, dried apricots, spicy yeast, rye bread and a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Quite citric and pale ale-ish saison. Nice one.
