Lightly hazy gold - fairly effervescent - nose moderately tart grape skin, musky peach skin, light phenolics (pepper), some tropical esters - flavor is litly sweet up front, but a tartness and acidity arrive quickly to balance - white grape and peach - moderate phenols late - gets a bit spicy, actually, and the bitterness and peppery character get a touch abrasive - lingering tropical sweetness in the finish - a little rough, but much more enjoyable than I anticipated.

Pours gold into a tulip. White head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet hay and pepper aromas. Sweet summer fruit, tangy citrus and marshmallow front to back. Lasting pepper and bitter earth finish.

The Sampler, Brooklyn bottle: Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is lemony citrus and spice. Not so much in the way of funk, barnhouse, farmhouse type smells. Taste is similarly lemony and spice. Not very sweet. Light bodied and easy drinking. Not bad, but I prefer my saisons to be funkier.

Light saison. Citrus takes over from the light floral yeast. Pours orange with good head and lacing. Finishes with light sweetness. Good balance, good hoppy head and lacing, golden clear pour. Tap at Summerfest DC.
