The husband of the Femme Fatale, an ‘irresistible’ lovely dark beer wherein not less than 5 kinds of malt are used. The beautiful foam lingers towards caramel with a light hint at hops. The malty flavour evolves into fine bitterness that lingers on nicely. EBC 115.

At Cambrinus, Bruges. Pours hazy brown with a big, frothy, off-white head that leaves lacing. The aroma contains malt, chocolate, caramel, dough & yeast, some hops and spices. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and light hoppy bitter, ending a bit dry and spicy. Medium body, slick/oily texture, fizzy to lively carbonation. The low score surprises me, I'd say this was pretty good.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours a deep unclear dark brown, foamy tan head. Aroma of light earthy yeast, faint brown sugar. Taste is perhaps a little thin and light for a dubbel, some cassonade and dried dark fruits, but overshadowed by an earthy nuttiness, herbal undercurrent and a generally thin body. Not the best dubbel out there.
