The 2023 Spring Release of Mott the Lesser is a blend of an imperial stout aged in three fortified wine barrels, Madeira, Ruby and Tawny Port, to partially age this batch in addition to Vermont Gin Barrels. Blended, they present a vinous and fruity aroma that collides with the vanilla character of the Gin barrels. Flavors of Baker’s chocolate, marzipan, brown sugar, and toffee barrage the palate with fruit and leather. It is guaranteed to delight and quell the built up desire for our renowned Imperial Stout.
Admin Note: Released twice a year in fall and spring. Barrel combinations change each year. If you know which vintage you had please add to the database or rate under that entry.

500 ml bottle thanks to willrunforbeer, much thanks. Aroma is leather, molasses, red grapes, light roasted malt, burnt sugar.
Flavor is not really "Kate" but after all this is reinvented. I have had Kate in 2011 and 2012. This is hard to compare since it is a bottle. The mouthfeel is pretty nice, full and thick. Leather hints, dark molasses, red grapes, with a good amount of oak in the finish. It’s a very nice classic RIS. Highly drinkable.

500ML Bottle. Thanks Brian for sharing.
A - Dark brown to black with small tight bubbles.
S - A ton of roasted chocolate aroma with some smoked malt along with candy and coffee.
T - There is a ton of roasted malts in this one. Coffee chocolate, almost no sweetness, dessert wine, raisin and fig
M - Thin, decent carbonation but nothing explosive.
O - This is a great ’classic’ Imperial Stout. No barrel aging, no adjuncts, no frills. But it’s a great modern stout brewed in the classic 10 years ago "why would you barrel age this?" stouts.

Draft at the taproom. Solid black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Rich chocolate, caramel, light roast, molasses, and earth with a faint but distinct vinous note that rounds the nose out nicely. Sweet malty chocolate and toffee with hints of molasses and roast. Non descript vinous note balances with a faint earthy hop flavor. Thick body with a creamy silky mouthfeel and a light level of carbonation. Nice stout, worth waiting in line for.
