08-07-19 // tap at Brauerei Witzgall Hype is deserved. Stunning Helles in perfection. Clear golden. Damn soft smooth mouthfeel. Grainy sweetness. Mild flowery hop aroma, minimal

Tap at the brewery. Bright Golden color clear big white head, reducing but fairly persistent. Flavors of biscuits and a load of cereals, very corny backed by lots of hay and straw. Mild bitter hops, noble hops, grass. Light body easy to drink, low to average carbonation, mild dry light bitter finish. If this was a lager likely couldn't be better, in the Dortmunder category I feel the lack of a fruity tone but still very solid, on the grains side.

This review needs to be taken with a bit of grain of salt. My wife and I biked in the July heat with kid riding shotgun from Bamberg. Midway through the trip I had a frantic 30 min bike chain repair I needed to do without shade. We were sweaty tired and very thirsty when we showed up at Witzgall and then heaven descended on us as we could not have had a better beer at a Better time. Pale golden color. Frothy white head. Excellent cereal malty nose and grassy hoppy nose. Almost resiny. Low carbonation. Pillows soft hops with modestly dry, modestly bitter finish. Perfectly refreshing. Everything is just lined up perfectly

Bottle from SinH4, many thanks Stefan! Clear golden with a quickly disappearing white foam. Floral with some grain, toast bread and cereal. On the sweeter side. Very drinkable and balanced. I could have a few of these and be very happy.

Super-fresh bottle thnx to SinH4 ! Pours clear blonde, small white head fades instantly. Smell is malty, tad sweet, mild creamyness even. more thickness than a pils. Medium to medium-low intensity. Taste is very full, intensely grainy as well as aromatic malty. Cereal. perhaps a tad metallic, but not botheringly much. pilsner malts are given much playground and intensity, But I assume some other malts were used as well to reach this level of complexity. Very easy drinking, of course, with medium body and medium carbo. Well done, once again !

On tap @ Sthrenkeller, Bamberg. Pours clear slightly hazy yellow, with a big creamy head. Aroma is herbal hops, with citrus and grassy notes, as well as malts with cereals and toffee. Full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is herbal hops, with citrus, grass and earthy notes, as well as malts with cereals, toffee and honey. Some seriously quaffability!

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4 (and a little help by derA), many thanks! Pours clear golden with a big but shortlived head. Aroma is malt-dominated, but with a clear fleshy fruitness, little hay. Body is light to medium, with a lively carbonation to make it refreshing and pleasant. Gentle in flavours, but not neglecting them, rather bringing out the beauty of what a lager can be. Palate continues the light malt flavours, gushing down with some water without getting thin. Extremely pleasant throughout. Very smooth and round experience. Superb!
