Aroma has coffee and slightly salty licorice. Flavour has salty licorice, herbal tones, some coffee and mild ashy notes. Rather oily palate, feels sticky on the first sip. Contains some balancing and non-disturbing alcohol. At the end of the glass chocolate and spiciness occurs. Too salty to be excellent but nice anyway.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Paul. Pours deep brown-black with a dense, frothy brown head. Rich burnt malts in the nose, dark chocolate, scorched earth, dried dark fruits. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with oily chocolate, char, baking cocoa, gooey dark fruits. Full bodied, creamy and chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with lots of bittersweet baking cocoa, strong roast, earth, bitter coffee grounds. Damn fine.

Smell is malty and roasty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, burnt cereal, dark roast coffee, cocoa powder, salty liquorice hard candy, dried cranberries, burnt wood and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and roasty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, burnt cereal, liquorice fudge, toffee, burnt wood, espresso coffee, bitter chocolate, raisins, roasted bell peppers, moist soil, minerals and alcohol. Mouthfeel is fat, velvety, round, roasted astringent, slightly boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, liquorice fudge, espresso coffee, bitter chocolate, burnt wood, minerals and alcohol. Great big roasty coffee stout. Pours dark murky brown into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Vanilla and espresso aromas. Medium bodied with dry oak and hot chocolate turning full in the lasting espresso finish.

Bottle shared at DOS tasting thanks to JulienHuxley. Pours near black with a thick beige head. Aroma of big roast, coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, molasses, soy. Flavour is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

330 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours super dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark brown head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, vanilla, molasses, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, light char/smoke, and roast/smokey earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of coffee and dark/roasted malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, vanilla, molasses, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, light char/smoke, and roast/smokey earthiness. Good amount of roast/coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, vanilla, molasses, dark bread, licorice, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of big coffee and dark/roasted malt flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and moderately slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible imperial coffee stout. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of big coffee and dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
