Porter was the great London beer style of the 18th and 19th centuries, when the city was revered as both the brewing capital and trading hub of the world. Named after the legions of porters in her docks, streets and markets who drank this powerful beer to slake their thirst, Meantime London Porter is a classic interpretation of this complex dark beer style.
Wonderful with mature cheese, beef, lamb, or as traditionally served, with oysters.

I have no idea what happened to this .75 L bottle but I got a whiff of vinegary nastiness as soon as I opened and it got no better from there. Sad because I was looking forward to it.

33cl bottle from Geers. Pours hazy dark brown with an unstable, foamy, tan head. Aroma of toast, tobacco, old dark chocolate, prune, toffee, black tea. Taste has sweetish toffee, dark chocolate & prune, becoming rather herbal, toasty & nutty with a hint of tobacco, giving off a smoke effect too. Dry, toasty finish, the herbal hoppiness keeps hinting at tea leaves & tobacco. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. I can sense something 'old' and 'authentic' about this beer, but it feels like a watered-down version of something better. I might look out for the 75cl bottle and preserve it for a while.

Bottle @ LCRBM 2008. Roast and cardemom in the aroma. Sweetish, malty flavor with cardemom and licorice. Good beer, like most Meantime beers.

From a 750ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a stable beige head. Aroma: roasted malts, some chocolate, caramel, vanilla. Taste: roasted malts with a hint of smoke, sweet chocolate and caramel malts, vanilla, light bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation, oily texture. Pretty solid porter, very easy drinking you could quickly finish the 750ml by yourself.
