A solid, balanced and smooth drinking stout. The nose has some unusual elements for a stout - rich dark fruit, a gummy sweetness and classic malt. Tastes include roasted malt, caramel, a hint of molasses, faint coffee and chocolate, a metallic cleaness and a smooth creaminess. Well balanced and easy to drink.

Really nice sweet roast, coffee, and some light fruit. Creamy, silky mouth feel, and low carb. Good dark, semi sweet roasty finish. Solid stout.

Black with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have moderately bitter roasted malts. There's a sweeter finish. Malty. Brown sugar.

19 March 2019. At Makars Gourmet Mash Bar, Edinburgh. Shared with the lovely Anke! Pours hazy black with a frothy, slowly thinning, beige head. Aroma of raisin, blackcurrant, molasses, brownie dough, licorice, mocha, candied fig, coffee liqueur. Taste is medium malty sweet, quite fruity (fig, raisin), some sourish blackcurrant, molasses & licorice enrich the maltiness even more; nutty edge initiates a medium roasted bitterness, fondant, toast & coffee roast on top of that, yet not outspoken, vague umami black olive in the back. Dryish, earthy, bit herbal hoppy finish, lingering toast, coffee roast. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Good one but verges on Sweet Stout.

Opaque amber brown colour, tall frothy tan head, dissipating slowly. Aroma roasted malts, caramel, brown sugar, light liquorice, chocolate, distant dark fruit. Taste smooth medium sweet and bitter, malty, chocolate, light dark fruit. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, lingering chocolate, fruity notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, mild and smooth, very good.
