The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so. Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player. This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

From tap at the Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki. We have this beer very often when it's available by Amager Bryghus. Great American Pale Ale. Citrusy, hoppy aroma with peach, citrus, mandarin flavour, nice retention at the creamy head and a nice bitter aftertaste. Good one. I love it.

Hoppy aroma of citrus fruits, grapefruit, pine. Flavour is fruity and hoppy with a nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Refreshing and highly sessionable APA.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours pretty hazy, looking like a fruit cocktail or a juice, with no foam. Aroma is initially intensely fruity, then hoppy, tropical. Body is slightly dense, with average carbonation. Taste is fairly bitter, with a bit of sweetness too. Final is fairly long as well.

33cl bottle; batch 1856, BB Jul 2019. Drank at home on 27th Jul 2019, so 27 days after it's BBD. Sediment left the bottle, so huge amount of floaters filled the glass, took ages to settle and sink through the cloudy dull orange body, on top a dirty off-white crust sat staring back at me as I willed the floaters to sink. Orange esters to the fore in the nose, taste also orange forward. Fairly hop bitter once the initial orange flavour is overcome, 'pithy orange bitterness' is a good way to describe it. Light alcohol burn in the finish.

Orange colour, sparkling, minimal head. Aroma is intensive topical fruit and citrus hops. Medium bitterness, quite aggressive. Good.

Hazy orange, small offwhite froth. Aroma has pine, peach, ripe mango, orange at first, turns heavy piney after some sips. Fruity, caramely flavour. Peach and mango with smooth malt backing.

On tap at Ghetto SOmething, Koper. Pours pretty hazy, amber golden colour, topped with a larger white head, ok retention and a bit creamy. Very pleasant and present tropical fruity nose, mango, passionfruit, lychee and lots of sweet bubblegum with citrusy note. Fruity start, gently sweet. Moderate bittenress with some herbal character. A bit citrusy later on. Very dry finish. Medium bodied. Superbly drinkable.

Bottle, 0.5l. Thick copper pour, strong red hue. Lots of yeast floating around the glass. No head, no lacing. Caramel and herbs on the nose, very weak hop character. To be honest, this one doesn't feel so fresh. Medium body, soft carbonation. Thick and creamy texture. Bittersweet taste. Strong malty sweetness at first - caramel and toffee totally overpower the hops here. Herbal notes, slight honey. Peppery. Bitter aftertaste, a bit harsh and unbalanced. Overall, not so good. Definitely not the freshest sample here. BB date is fine though so I assume it's due to improper storage. A shame.
