Tap at Malto, Riccione, Italy. Pours darkish blonde, medium transparent, with a nice head of medium grained white foam. Aroma is malty, even a little toffee. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium sweet, but with a good balancing bitterness. Final is average, with still some maltiness.

Unfiltered Bavarian pale lager – in effect a Kellerbier, basically, tasted at Dok Brewing Festival. Snow white, creamy, cobweb-lacing, stable head on a misty yellow-golden beer with tiny yeast dots throughout. Aroma of banana bread, dried apricot, unripe peach, chamomile, breakfast cereals, touch honey, minerals, spring water. Clean onset with subtle fruitiness – the subtlety of an unfiltered Lager indeed, reminiscent of pear, apple peel and halfripe banana, quite expressive but nowhere sweet; minerally but not overpowering carbonation, slick cereally malts with white-bready edges, leading to a grassy and florally hop bitter finish, a bit resinous in the end, but keeping pace with lingering sweetish-bready maltiness, with even a vague flour-like aspect in the end from the yeast in suspension. Quite colourful and opulent for its style, refined and very solid – a treat for Kellerbier and other German Lager lovers. ‘Gründlichkeit’ is the right word here.

Grainy, hops, dry, bit papery

Magus, linnaseline, viljane, natuke kuivust ka lõpus. Ok.

Keg, bayerischer Anstich, at HopDog birthday. Slightly hazy. Full on hay, lazy late summer. Great balance, nice crisp, together with a lovely full soft bitterness. This is not bad at all. Rerate, old rating April 1 22. Was: Hazy grass. Soft. A bit too chewy. Front heavy with a decent edge. Bitter. Okayish. Rerate because old rating was butter. Oh no.

On tap at HopDog while waiting for the DOG to arrive. Hazy amber with a big lasting head. Big crunchy fields-of-barley flavor, lots of grain and rounded mid palate complexity. Plenty of earthy hop bitterness balancing things, smooth bitter flavor. Excellent lager!

25 August 2021. Bar Beenhouwer Beer Quiz. Cheers to Ama, Jan & Peter! Clear golden, small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of old apple, pear, straw, bread crust, cellar, cheese, yeast. Taste has sweetish apple, pear, vague banana over bready-yeasty maltiness, bit cheesy with a vague citrus accent. Grassy hoppy finish, bit floral, yeasty. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Complete Kellerbier in a way.
