Bottle, 750 ml from Za Popen’t, Ljubljana. Shared with JFK10000. Pours dark brown with beige head. Dark fruits and chocolate aroma. Sweet, roasted malts, dark fruits and too much alcohol in flavor. Expected alcohol to be more hidden and subtle.

Bottle, along with the 2011. Not nearly as mellow as the ’11, this one retains more spice and more distinct candi notes. Brown sugar, spices. Booze remains a bit more, a touch overwhelming, but not bad. Just drink this stuff fresh, or maybe one year - no more.

750ml bottle @ Varjopikkujoulut
Pours dark brown with a smooth head. Aroma of ripe fruits, syrup, candi sugar, some roastiness and orange peel. Taste is smooth, sweetish and syrupy with some orange peel, syrup, ripe fruits and hints of roastiness. Finish is sweetish, slightly roasty and fruity with some syrup and toffee. Quite interesting, feels a bit more fruity than the other versions.

75 cl bottle @ tiong. Bottled 28.08.2012, BBE 28.08.2018
Aroma has oranges and some licorice. Flavour has licorice, some alcohol, ash, tobacco and orange. Also some smoky whisky tones even though this is not a BA beer. Pleasant.

A little late on the upload of this but here goes.
This was poured into a tulip and a snifter.
The appearance was basically the same in both glasses. Here’s the rest: there’s a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing sticking around the sides of the glass.
The smell had a really nice Belgian spiciness intertwining itself in between some delicate chocolate sweetness even still letting in some light vanilla and some hot booze.
The taste was mainly sweet and spicy.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium to heavy. Yup, this one’s a sipper and the carbonation was fairly smooth.
Overall, mmm, nice Belgian Strong Ale worthy of having again but would probably just welcome the following year’s version just as much.

Bottled 750ml. Tnx anna & fatphil. Opaque black color, tiny off-white head. Roasted, a bit spiceyness in the nose. Medium-bodied. Toasted, spiceyness, some burned notes. Simplish but decent.

Very Dark Opaque Brown With Shades of Red, Big Mocha Head, Decent Strings Of Lacing. Light Sweet Fruity Aroma. Taste about the same: fruity with light booze finish. Medium body, hides high ABV, 11%, well., Smooth and easy to drink. OK. At this point it seems that Mikkeller is slightly over rated.

750 ml bottle. Aroma consists of chocolate, dark fruit (plums, raisins), soy sauce, alcohol. Pours opaque muddy brown with a large tan head with excellent retention; leaves lace. Taste is sweet and savory, sour and meaty, oxidation, soy sauce. Heavy body crushing my tongue, velvety mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea right now, but a quality product.
