First brewed in 2008 at our original brewery in downtown Kalamazoo, Oarsman Ale grew out of our desire to explore the tradition of session beers and to create a unique, flavorful experience for everyone, no matter what the occasion.
Tart and refreshing, this sessionable, bright Wheat Ale exudes citrus and lemony aromas from Cascade hops and trades sour intensity for finesse. A perfect companion for any occasion, Oarsman Ale is a beer based in tradition, but with that distinctive Bell’s twist.

0.33 l can from Svijet piva, Zagreb. Shared with Višnja 666 and Nikola. Hazy yellow, minimal head. Light hopped, citrus, lemon, light floral, some honey. Tart, balanced, no bitterness. Light body, soft carbonation, light, moderate citrus finish. Interesting approach, but has it’s problems.

[ As Bell’s Oarsman Ale ].Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, moderate yeasty, baking yeast, fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, baking yeast, fruit, pale malt, fruity malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20161008] 6-3-7-3-13

Canned 355 ml, courtesy of and shared with JFK10000. Pours cloudy golden with small white head. Fruity, citrus, sweetish, some tartness. Some bitterness in finish. Light to medium bodied. More tartness would be nice.

Canned 330ml. -at the MBR Sour Beer tasting. Hazy yellow coloured, small white head, mild fruity nose. Quite weak and almost subdued citrusy fruity and soft hoppy with mild spicy finish. Bit thin but drinkable.
