Een Imperial India Black Ale. Een zwaar zwart bier dat niet roosterig is maar juist hoppig door de Dryhopping met Amerikaanse hopsoorten. 10% alcohol!

Bottle from trade with bierkoning, thanks Edo! Extreem gushing!!!

Bottle from lekkerbier, BB early 2017, large sample. Opens with a big sssh, but only after a minute starts gushing like a madman. Seems to be a bit too much yeast particles as there remains a cloudy dark brown colored beer with a huge light brown head. Aroma is indeed a bit yeasty, some roast, grapefruit, pine, dark chocolate, dark bread, coffee. Medium bitter taste, mostly from dark roasted malts actually. Some sweetness. Again coffee and dark bread in flavor. High carbonation, medium body. Should try a proper version and rerate. Still has potential.

Bottle split at CBC Clerko, thanks to an IP trade with Bierkoning, 30/09/14. Light black to extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent tan covering. Nose is big on roasty tones, earthy, spice, pine, dark fruit, hint tropicana. Taste comprises more big roast, light booze, spice, liqourice, dark chocolate, light pine. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok CDA, a little too hot though.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Almost black colour, big beige head. Aroma of blueberries, grapefruit, roasted malts, liquorice, charcoal, chocolate, earth, some alcohol, not your average BIPA. Flavour is sweet, fruity, currants, blueberries, grapefruit, charcoal, liquorice, some bitter chocolate, yeast, decent bitter finish, earthy and light ashy. Medium bodied. Over-carbonated, but a few swirls tackled that problem.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich-roast, dark chocolate, pine, earth, orange peel and a touch of sherbet. The taste is bitter, rich roasted malt, earth, toast, pepper, caramel, dark chocolate, charred wood, spice and alcohol warmth with a very dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. A touch rough around the edges, but not bad.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. Pours rich brown with a creamy beige head. Well toasted bread on the nose with modest cocoa, roast, dirt. Big sweet flavor, some creamy chocolate, earth, charred wood. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with some scorched earth, baking cocoa, more burnt wood. Not bad.

Opaque dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Another slow gusher from this brewery. Palate is semi dry with mild fine carbonation. Semi dry dark malts, mild roast, touch of dry cream. Sweetish floral candy fruits. Mild piney hops. Smooth semi dry finish. Little spice. Tasty.

330ml bottle, thanks to Benzai! Pours black with big foamy beige head. Roasted malts and hops in the aroma. Taste is strong with roasted malts, coffee, liquorice mixed with some mild citrus and herbal notes and an earthy bitter linger. Big tasting enjoyable beer and my first from Berghoeve.
