Just the right amount of Caramel and Munich malts give Alameda Brewing American Imperial Rye IPA a perfect amber color and mouthfeel. But what is really notable are three new Northwest grown Cascade hop varieties. It’s the spicy, floral and citrus notes that make this beer a favorite.

Sampled from bottle @ THT November. Clear orange golden color, full sized rough white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, huge rye, resin, a hint of pine. Taste malts, rye, resin, hops, bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Nice.

Waxed bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours golden amber with an off-white head. Aromas of citrus and spice. Near full bodied. Lots of hop, mostly citrus. Think rye spice is clearly present. It is almost lush in taste and feel. Malt isn’t strong, but the hops aren’t really crushingly bitter. It’s a smooth drinking nicely flavored ale.
