Bottle pour into tulip glass from Greg & Jane’s Beer and Wine. Aroma is roasted malts with hint of anise, chocolate and pine. Appearance is virtually black but dark ruby red with light source directly behind, finger width creamy beige head with no sparkle and mild lacing. Taste is balance of sweet and bitter roasted malts with light chocolate and hint of anise and pine as in aroma. Palate is medium bodied with light, thin texture, lively carbonation and pleasant roasted bitter finish. Overall, more on the roasted, malty side than a true balance between the sweet malts and the bitter hops. The contribution of the hops is more for bitterness than flavor. Could be a little thicker.

0,33l bottle at home from trade with Zakoon, big thanks. No obvious BB date. almost black color, medium big tan head. good lacing. smells of citric notes, some licorice, some parfume, light spices, cloves, hints of vanilla, bitter chocolate, nuts. decent smell. full body, medium carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of resin, some licorice, grass, coffee, hints of grapefruit. finishes lightly roasty with notes of licorice and light resin notes. decent stuff, quite a lot of carbonation though which probably rather improves the beer, overall limited flavours but possibly my bottle is also not so fresh.

Taste is medium sweet chocolate, dark chocolate, coffee, moderate pine and citrus finish, medium hoppy-coffee bitterness, dry finish, lasting bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, creamy and resiny. Very nice chocolate and hoppy mix!

Black with thick head. Aroma and flavour are initially dominated by fresh piney hop. Later the dark, roasted bitterness of the malts come through. Full flavoured. Dangerously easy to drink.

341 ml. bottle. Purchased @ Willems & Zoon. Bottled on 04/08/2015 (USA notation). Pours very dark brown, small mocha. Nose is quite hoppy still, blue cheesy & pine, malt background is rather big, powdery roasted malts & cacao, instant chocolate milk sweetness. Taste is floral & bit herbal bitter with chocolate milk sweetness, cheap cacao puffs, powdery cacao, grass, a touch empty, chicory coffee, rather powdery herbal. A touch empty & powdery. Not heavily astonishing but quite solid all the same. Age might play some role here. Solid but not stellar which is how Clown Shoes has come across so far for me. I wonder what their price point is in the USA?
