Aromas are dark malt, roast, with a little cocoa and a hint of molasses. Flavors are similar to nose thankfully lightly sweet with decent carbonation to balance but slightly thin body. Good enough beer.

Wow, really like this beer! Very nutty characteristics. Malty, light hops. Good palate; not overly sweet. Definitely a session beer. Nice light tan head, some lace. Hazy brown color. Good body. Excellent finish. I be back. Had this on draft at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse, WIsconsin USA

Poured into a nonic pint, the appearance was a rugged semi-dark brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly messy lacing.
The aroma starts with some roasted nuts, coffee, bread, subtle caramel and earthiness.
The flavor balances crisp sweet to earthy to roastiness. All combining in the aftertaste and the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Good carbonation.
Overall, good brown ale that leans English in its style.

On tap at Howells & Hood. Brownish with a small head. Fairly mild with malt, chocolate, vanilla some toffee and nuts. The body was medium and the finish on the dry side.

Bottle: Pours slightly hazed mahogany with a creamy, light tan head. Caramel, chocolate, bark aroma. Creamy, nut and chocolate malt flavor. Roasty, a little oily, maybe some cola notes. Smooth, simple, straightforward...... Really pleasant and rich....nice.

Bottle. Nutty chocolate malt and herbal hay aroma. Medium brown with moderate tan head. Mildly sweet nutty chocolate malt and mildly bitter herbal quinine/hay flavor. Okay but a bit harsh.

Sample at the brewpub. Clear dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, roasted nuts and caramel. Light-bodied with flavors of roast malt, caramel and mild hops. The finish is roasty with a nutty and malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Pours hazy chestnut, medium tan head, dissipates quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, just a touch of smoke, nutty, burned caramel, pumpernickel. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, minimal bitterness, nutty and bready, light roast. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

12 oz bottle brought back from Wisconsin. Nice clear deep chestnut brown with a thin white ring. Big rich nutty malty aroma. Not too sweet but woody and malty and smooth. A little brown paper bag flavor at the end.
