Bottle at Deano’s monthly tasting, September. Poured a clear medium amber with a round off white head. The aroma is malty nut caramel. The flavour is medium bitter with a malty toffee palate. Nice enough, but needs more body.

Bottle shared at THT. Pours clear brown with an off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

A hazed light brown ale with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt, caramel and solvents. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt, clying, chalky notes, so-so. On tap at brewpub, Jan 20 2012.

Draft @ the Brewery. Aroma of nutty brown sugar, spices and caramel. Taste is quite similar with even more nuttiness. Overall, I’m diggin this beer. Wish I could get it in my neck of the woods.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy brown color with a thin tan head. Poor head retention. Aroma of chocolate, toasted malts, caramel, floral hops and faint nutty notes. The taste is nutty notes, chocolate, citrus, caramel and a lightly hopped finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Decent beer.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in MIlwaukee, WI; enjoyed on the Labor Day weekend watching baseball after a long run, feeling good. Appearance a murky caramel brown with copious small yeasties and a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma is nutty with apparent caramel, slightly floral as well, somewhat unique. Taste is definitely nutty, nice malty finish, not too carbonated, also very slightly floral, medium body. Another good one from this great brewery.

One of a slew of Ale Asylum brews courtesy of sebletitje. Pours light mahogany to brown with thin tan head. The aroma is roasty, modestly nutty, dark fruity esters and black strap molasses. The taste is sweet molasses, sweet malts, some malt roastiness, a mild level of burnt malts and then sweet dark fruity esters rounding things out. A touch on the estery side for the style.

light brown, medium tan head. aroma is malty with light earthly elements, yeasty notes. flavors, bready malts, light palate with touch of chocolate and cocoa powder, light bitter hop finish with some dark fruits. Palate is thin, with a mild mocha/caramel approach and earthly notes.

12oz shorty bottle. Murky orange-brown color. Minimal oily head. Very nice sweet nutty aroma. Medium bodied, very easy drinker. Complex brown malt tastes, spicily hopped in very balanced way. Some caramel sweetness along with a nutty richness. A very nicely done Brown Ale, too sessionable to win Ratebeer accolades, but a quality product all the way. Worth a try for those into the style.
