High Wire is our tribute to the Pale Ales of the West Coast of America, beers unapologetically hop forward in character. Let your taste buds walk this test of balance. Mango, lychee and lip-smacking grapefruit flavours harmonise against a smoothly composed malt base, which develops into a crisply bitter finish. Are you ready for our tightrope of taste. .?

Significant American hops up front featuring grapefruit, lemon, mango and grassiness. Sub-flavours of Ear Grey tea with floral softness set off a wonderful taste profile in a low-ABV pale ale. well done!

Aroma of tropical fruits, biscuity malt, pine, hops. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a moderate to medium bitter finish. Rather too malt-oriented for me to be a true winner, but it’s definitely smooth and refreshing and it goes down well.

Draught at Lambiczoon: pours gold with white head. Aroma is light citrus and flowers. Taste much the same with a lame pale maltiness. Passable but very much of a simpler time.

Can from Beyond Beer, drunk in the basement while jamming on the Hiwatt clone to songs from my band 20 years ago. Orange amber hazy with a medium head. Smells orange-citrusy dank with some mild pine notes. Flavor is more dank and piney, but with smooth and not overwhelming bitterness with a great caramel backbone. What perfect balance! Excellent one, and at just five and a half percent.

[33cl can from Bargain Booze, Milton, Staffs.] A hazy straw coloured pour with a tight white head; piney aroma; bitter pine needle taste to start then a sweeter grainy body with a little citrus; then a bitter grapefruit finish. Crisp and refreshing.
