Draught@CPH BF 2013. Deep brown, close to black, colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is toasted and roasted malts along with some slight chocolate and mild ripe dark fruits. Flavour is chocolate, mild toasted wooden notes, some toffee, ashes and also quite big on the bitterness. Yet mellow and smooth with a good body.

100ml from tap at Ølfestival København 2013. Tiny layer at the top of a dark brown coloured body. Balancing aroma of dark fruits and dark malts. Fine blended taste of chocolate malts, coffee grounds, and dark fruits followed by a lingering, bittersweet finish. Velvety over the tongue and down the swallow. Well balanced and well bodied. One of my best at the festival (tap 1, Carlsberg, Copenhagen 24.05.2013).

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of coffee, licorice, bitter chocolate, pumpernickel, dark fruit, red berries and a touch of fruity hops. Taste is quite dry and light to medium bitter with notes of coffee, rye and chocolate. A bit bland. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Taste is a bit of a let down, but the aroma’s great.

Bottle. It pours an unclear, dark brown body under a small, light beige head. The aroma has some licorice, lots of caramel sauce tending towards butterscotch, and some dried fruits. Licorice notes in the mostly caramel sauce flavor. Full body, pleasant carbonation. Caramel finish. Well, it’s drinkable and all that, but it’s nothing extraordinary. 121102

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Hansen & Zita for this bottle! Black with a light brown head. Roasty aroma with coffee and a bit of rye. Sweetish roasty flavor with coffee and a dry finish with some bitterness and some hoppy notes. Medium to full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. A very good one.

21/07 RBESG Grand Tasting, 0.5 l bottle. It poured pitch black body with small brownish head. Coffee, slightly caramel aroma with catchy herbal notes. Roasted malt dominates its flavor as well, nicely rounded with milky smoothness and decent, but very subtle hop bitterness. Medium bodied, quite carbonated, with sweet and slightly sour finish. Pleasant enough, alcohol was hidden very well.
