Red Stripe Light is D&G’s alternative to the original. It has a smoother taste, and besides having a lower alcohol content, it is also ’less’ of a beer as it comes in 10.5 oz. bottles.

Bottled 275 ml at "The Little Pub at the Village", Island Village, Ocho Rios, on January 24, 2015.Bottle was a long neck and clear if I remember correctly, didn’t look the way the pic currently does on ratebeer.Clear golden color, fluffy lasting white head. Sweet, sugary, vegetable scent. Weak sweet taste. Thin mouthfeel, low to very low bitterness.Mainly boring and tasteless, guess I knew that getting it, but was on Jamaica and wanted to try some different local beers and the selection wasn’t really that big!Tickers gotta tick...

Location: Way too many of these in Jamaica, Dec '13

Aroma: The nose is adjunct lager corn, some light malts, and not a whole lot else
Appearance: It pours a clear yellow color with a small, fizzy, white head
Flavor: The taste is as minimal as you'd expect, with some corn and light sweetness
Palate: The body is light and fairly watery, way too fizzy, not too much else going on
Overall Impression: It's not the worst light adjunct lager out there, but it certainly isn't leaps and bounds better either. I don't remember the carbonation being so extreme on bottled tastings, but the draft was a total over-carbonated mess.

A 0.33l bottle from Whole Foods Market Tribeca. Well, at least it looks like a 0.33l bottle, but it says 11.2 fl oz. No idea what that means. My first pale lager here in the US of A, and it's not even from the pale lager-country! A crystal clear pale golden body with some small unfiltered particles and a small quickly fading bubbly lager head. Smells of corn really. Boiled corn, soft grainy malts and a little bit of soap. Bah.. Doesn't taste all that bad actually. Mostly because there is it much taste at all. A little lemony citrus hint is basically what I manage to squeeze out of this one. Really mild and yeah light. Not bad to drink k actually, but it lacks flavor. 20.06.2013

23 Jan 2013 and our ship docked at Montego Bay: we hit Doctor Cave Beach for the day. The bar there had small (275ml) clear bottles of this beer available, so I had a couple to keep me cool. The brew is very light in colour, a pale gold I suppose with no head to see (I drank them from the bottle, no glass). Slight grainy nose, but nothing much. The taste was leaning towards hoppy and had a semi-bitter dry finish: I found it refreshing and just what I needed at the time. This is not the srot of beer I’d normally buy, but it was sunny, hot and I was in Jamaica!

11.2 oz stubby bottle: Pours clear, dark gold, with a lively white head. Virtually no aroma...a little grass and grain. Taste is watery, grain. Pretty much bereft of all things beer. Incredibly lacking.

Kingston Hall, NY bottle FREE: I had the option of not paying for this beer, which I had not yet rated, so I felt as though I might as well do it. It was pretty much what was expected. Pale beer. Corn and grain aroma. Less sweet than normal red stripe, because there is less beer in this than there is in normal red stripe. It was drinkable though, which is why I chugged this as quickly as I could before leaving Kingston Hall, chea.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a pale clear yellow with minimal head. Aroma of corn and grains. Taste is about the same. I actually wasn’t paying attention when picking up a 6pk of Red Stripe for my lady and got this instead. She thought I was trying to tell her something and got mad...go figure. Overall, it’s like most other crappy light beers. Nothing to write home about.

Corn nose. Crystal clear yellow, thin head. Weak lemony tang. Nothing objectionable, nothing much of anything at all. Unremarkable.

Not too shabby but I happen to like Red Stripe. Clean dry malts, not much in the way of hops, just a touch of balance at the finish. A good pale lager here. Pale golden yellow.
