German for "dark wheat", Dunkelweizen has a lot going on. This is a very flavorful German style dark wheat beer. It is unfiltered and gets its cloudiness from a good amount of dark wheat. A bit of chocolate adds a burnt coffee like flavor and a classic German yeast strain gives a delicate balance of banana and clove. It all comes together with a lot of carbonation, a beautiful deep amber color and a thick tan head.

Draught at the brewpub as part of a flight on January 22, 2014.As "Brown Pelican Dunkel".Murky brown color, off-white head. Sweet, alcohol, nutty, berry taste, a bit smoked. Light smoked aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Acidic, light smoked scent. Sort of fruity.
