Kalik Gold was introduced in 1992 as a limited edition brew to mark the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ landing in the new world. CBL produces Kalik Gold permanently; it has an alcohol content of 7%. It is bolder and richer than regular lager beers and exemplifies the valor, vigor and sense of adventure that drove Columbus to our shores. Kalik Gold is the brand we use to sponsor Homecomings, these are events held outside of New Providence (the most populated Island) where locals native to other Islands go back home once a year to meet with family, celebrate and have a great time.

Bottle brought back to UK from Nassau, Bahamas. Pours golden with a bubbly white head. Aroma of corn. grass, malt and alcohol. Pretty sweet, light bitterness. Light/medium body. Sticky texture. Marginally better than standard Kalik but Kalik light edges it of the 3 I’ve tried from this brewer.

Bottle courtesy of Raffaella C. and Marco A. L’intensità olfattiva è elevata e la persistenza olfattiva è sufficiente.

Better than its brother, Kalik. More body and a richer taste. Also more alcohol. This is, admittedly, a fairly low bar of comparison and there the compliments pretty much end. Objectionable aftertastes will remind you that this is not a finely crafted beer.

Bottle @ Sheila’s Conch & Wings. Pale, I guess sort of gold. Bland, plasticy, and with some appley esters and plasticy phenols. No real bitterness and the finish is quite grainy. I haven’t had a beer this bad in a while.

Found in Bolivia. Yeah, go figure - "I’m in Bolivia, I need me some Bahamas lager!" Weak frothy white head with carbonated yellow body. Aroma is cardboard and yeast. Flavour is sweet lemon and orange with a cloying sweet finish. This might work in the heavy heat of the Bahamas but it sure doesn’t do much in La Paz.

Bottle in the hotel lobby, RBWG ’15, night 2 - 20/02/15 thanks to whomever shared this number. Nice to scope a Malt Liquor for a country tick !!! Gold with a moderate off white covering. Nose is pale malt, paper, straw, grain. Taste comprises pale malts, grain husk, sweet notes, cereals, light caramel streak. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so, not enough boost on offer, no warm ML glow !
