An amber-colored filtered beer of high fermentation. The combination of Ambré malt and Caramel malt provides a malty finish. The blend of Belgian and German hop varieties give it a very personal nose and a mouth-watering bitterness. Slightly seasoned at the end of the cooking.

Pale amber, cold haze. Uneven pearling. Slim, but relatively stable white head. Nose with candi sugar, herbal. Strange garden herbs, unidentifiable, and preserved orange rind. Taste: weird. The taste impression says orange, kumquat; sweet base and sourish from carbonation (tingling sensation), but the mouthfeel says just *flat!*, as if no saturation at all. Somebody suggested a sour mash, and I can relate to that, only it seems to have fallen flat. There's again some herbal taste (mannah?) and the citrussy finish is consistent throughout. 'Dikke Mathile' is a beer, coming from a brewery whose strength is in Flemish Oud bruin style. They've done everything to avoid that association here. Well, they succeeded *some* way.
