100% WET HOP ALE
HopTime Harvest Ale is brewed with 100% wet (in-kilned) hops. This means the hops are still carrying all their moisture and thus we have to add 5 to 8 times the amount of hops as compared to a regular brew. When brewing with wet hops a brewer gets a much different hop character as compared to brewing with dried, more conventional hops. The difference in brewing with wet and dried hops is like comparing freshly pick basil and dried basil, it is good both ways but each style has its own unique flavors and aromas.

Canned Sep 8th 2023. Golden, clear body, with a big, creamy, lacing, white head. Aroma of pine needles, resin, grass, tropical fruits grapefruit. Tastes similar. A bit creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes bitter, dry, very hoppy, citric, resinous, piney, a bit fruity. Beatutiful old-school west coast IPA, extremely crisp and well balanced. I love the characterful piney and resinous notes. Outstanding stuff! Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 5 / 17

Draft 10 oz pour at Russian River. Bright and shiny golden pour with a thick, lasting cream foam head. A very modest aroma of straw and hops. Flavor is a gentle IPA, fusty grains and low bitter hops. I feel like I expected a more dominant hop impression per the description, but that’s just me. The heavy hop content comes through late and lingers. Very simple IPA to drink. Huge session feel. So.glad I made it down here during wet hop season. Solid fresh IPA here.

Great American Beer Festival, 2012. One of the best IPAs I tried during the two-day festival. Bright and fresh citrus aroma with lots of floral hops in the flavor. The malt takes a back seat, this is a very well hopped beer. Dry, bitter finish. If the Russian River lines were not so long, I would have had more.

GABF 2012. Pours a bit hazy golden appearance with an off white head. A bit soapy, herbal, lightly piney hoppy, mild caramel aroma. Pretty tame, straw, earthy, a bit caramel, lightly piney flavor. Not bad but I’ve enjoyed other RR IPAs more.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a hazed golden-orange hued body with a lasting white head. Aromas are hoppy, citrusy, dank, tangerine, smooth hop oils (low cohumulone), light malt. Flavors are fresh and hoppy, grainy, citrusy, tangerine, low esters. Some melon like notes to the hop flavors. Medium carbonation with a dry finish. Tasty!

Tap. Pours clear golden amber with a medium creamy white head and great lacing. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, light caramel. Taste is much the same, lightly sweet and medium bitter. FInish is sprucy bitter. Creamy mouthfeel. Quite a tasty brew; I need to return for a few more pints of this one!
