Carmel and Munich malts give our flavored red ale a rich toffee and roasted nut character. We top off his beer with a healthy addition of American hops for a perfect balance.

Malzig, kernig, Karamell, leicht erdig, recht süß, süffig. Bisschen Nuss kann ich auch rausschmecken. Passt.

Part of a seasonal voyage platter at the Heartland Brewery and Chophouse, 43rd St, NYC. Pours mahogany brown with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of root beer, and caramel. Quite heavy sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, quite carbonated.

On tap at Heartland, Empire State, NYC. Light brown in the glass, clear and topped by a dense, light beige head leaving lacing. Some diacetyl in the aroma, but just a vague hint, with nuts, spruce hints and some bread. Roasted aroma with a decent bitternes, some nuts and bread. Less diacetyl than in the flavor, meaning it’s almost gone. Full body and a bit too much carbonation. Dry. Lasting finish. A decent one, nothing more. Especially the diacetyl is pulling the score down. 150624

Milder, recht weicher Malzantrunk. Karamellnoten, geringe Karbonisierung, dabei steigt das Malz. Hopfig kaffeeartiger Mittelteil, der im Nachhall durch grasige Noten ergänzt wird. 11/11/11/11//11

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy red to almost brown color. Bar pour yielded no head and it doesn’t leave any lacing.
The smell had some light toasted caramel malts with a light piney hops to it.
The taste followed the nose.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued.
Overall, this was a pretty decent beer, nothing over the top.

Tap at Heartland, Union Sq, 24/11/13. Reddish brown with a good size light beige head that retains well, good lacing ensues. Nose is caramel, sugars, sweet bread dough, light fruit. Taste comprises biscuit malt, caramel, fruitloaf, candied sugars. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth, sweet finale with light bitterness. Ok for style, not much depth but an easy drinker.

18th Jan 2013 finds me in New York and the Heartland tap under the ESB. I found this to be their beer that most suited my taste buds. Good colouring, red and clean, on top a beige head of foam. The aroma was malt infused nuts with caramel topped toffee apple. The taste was also on the sweet side , but the hops gave it a more semi-bitter feel after the roasted malts calmed down in the mouth. Flavoursome and most enjoyable.
