Cantillon Crianza Helena is a gueuze bottled in 2008. It is a blend of 40 month lambic from a new cognac barrel, 30 month lambic from a bordeaux barrel (for sweetness), and a 15 month young lambic. It is labeled as 5% ABV.

This gueuze was bottled on behalf of the owners of De Heeren van Liedekercke to mark the occasion of the birth of their daughter. Both 37,5cl and 75cl bottles were available for on-site consumption at the restaurant and 75cl bottles were also available for takeaway. Cantillon provided De Heeren van Liedekercke with unlabeled bottles; the label design and it's application was performed later.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Very hazy golden with a tall, dense and creamy off-white head leaving laces. Dry, intense and tart Brett aroma. Medium body with a solid carbonation. Very classic Brett accents - but still young and almost mild and smooth, especially considering this being a Cantillon. First in the finish the astringent acidity comes creeping. Fresh and crisp. 150109

75 cL bottle, bought at DHVL. Pours hazy orange with a beautiful, huge and white head. Aroma is mild fruity and light brnyard. Light acidic note yet with a smooth wooden accent. Has some classic Cantillon notes, yet very mellowed. Flavour is rather fruity and mild acidic dry. Surprisingly smooth and with only minor classic Cantillon notes in the initial flavour. Dry wooden brettish finish with lasting fruity accent, slowly showing a bit more of the classic Cantillon notes. Very smooth and easy yet still Cantillon-ish, but smooth and fruity. Great blend.

Shared bottle by Mes and Sim at Struise farm, bought at DHVL. Brewed to celebrate birth of the J&Js daughters birth at DHVL. Hazy gold, good limbic and some funk/bretts on aroma but some sweetness too. Quite complex, smooth, starts reasonably sweet. White wine grape and apricot towards the end. Not overly sour towards the end. Cognac works well. Good sweet and sour, like it is on the 50 degrees north.

Bottle at D.H van Liedekercke. Pours hazy orange with a fluffy head and lacings. Nose is classic cantillon. Cellar, matured, wood, oak and fine tartness. Crisp, smooth and dry. Very nice. Re-rating. Thanks a million to Fonefan. Pours clear golden with a white bubbly head. A bit of Earth in the aroma at first, manuer and barrel. Mouthpuckering sour. Funky as what. 4,1 - 4,3. Re.rate: Bottle @ Too many geuze’s only one toilet, Ulfborg 2012. Peppery, white wine, oak, barnyard. Lovely. 4,3 -4,4.
