0.33 l bottle from 'Etre Gourmet', best before February 2026. Hazy, very dark ruby to black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of molasses, licorice, lovage, prunes, dates and some marzipan. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity, roasty and slightly yeasty-spicy taste of molasses, prunes, dates, lovage, licorice, chocolate and light marzipan, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, slightly boozy finish. Full body, almost oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Very rich and intense beer, not really quad-like but right up my alley.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, caramel, raisins, toffee, yeast, touch of brown sugar, spicy notes, nutmeg, dried fruity notes, some alcohol. Flavour is quite sweet with a light to moderate bitterness in the finish. Just slightly boozy. Body is medium. Quite sweet and sticky, not nearly as complex as the best Quads on the block. Not bad, but one is more than enough.

Dark brown with lasting creamy head. Lots of malt sweetness. Seems like burnt caramel which adds a nice bitterness in the finish.

Bottle, shared with Andrew. Deep ruby body with lots of chunks beneath a thin beige head. No visible carbonation. Almost no lacing. Aroma of prunes, marmalade, raisin and caramel. Flavour of tea, fig, cherry, sherry, nuts and toffee. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. A tasty beer in poor condition.

Keg (£3.50 per half pint) at MSBH. It pours cloudy deep red - brown with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, sappy, dried figs, honey, date, malt loaf, brown bread, rivita, candied orange, cherry Bakewell and good times. The taste is dry initially, bitter - sweet, oily, sappy, dried fruits, date, prune, fig, nutty, honey, malt loaf, brown bread, raisin, sultana, brown bread, vinous and tannin with a drying finish. Fulsome body and fine to moderate carbonation. Moreish.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 02.2022) im 2021-09 getrunken. Dieser dunkle Belgier kommt mir einer kurzweilgen beigen Schaumkrone daher. Ein typischen Belgisches Malzmonster mit ganz feiner Süsse.
