Brewed at BrewWharf, bottled at Kernel.

This is a one-time-only beer, brewed prior to the closure of BrewWharf for the Americans, during the London Olympics 2012. Brewed from a trove of riches, aka, the hopstore, the beer included Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe and Citra hops, great coffee from Coleman Coffee, (in near by Borough)over great malts from all over the place. We even added some lactose for good measure. If you’re looking for a something rich to sit down too, this may be the one. Brewed to drink, selfishly, not to share in inches. It’s strong, black, smells of coffee and hops. We like it, we hope you do too...

Lots of love, Angelo and Phil.

Bottled at PBF. near black, small brown head. Plenty of tropical fruits and coffee upfront. Mid sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Espresso, dark chocolate, passion fruit and mango fight for attention. Mud cake and caffeine bitterness along with brandyish heat finishes it. Really good!

Bottled@PBF VIII. Pitch black colour, small brown colour. Strong coffee and quite toasted notes. Flavour is coffee, some toasted notes and also quite brutal on the hopping too. Rather sweet due to the coffee and hopping.

24th November 2012 Opaque black - brown beer, good dark tan head. Palate is smooth and airy, softish and slightly viscous. Rich dark malt cream, a little coffee. Tangy dark malts, dark fruits. More fruits - prune and raisin. Bare whisper of smoke. Nicely joined up fruity dark beer.

Some very slight caramelising here, which neither enhances or detracts from the beer, otherwise it tastes pretty much the same as it did 7 years ago. Very good duration!

I drank this at home on the same evening that I heard that Simon ’Haddonsman’ Johnson had passed away. 22.05.13 a very sad day indeed Thick in the mouth, black in colour with tan head. Aroma of liquorice, bitter in mouth with strong dark bitter chocolate and malty aftertaste. Liquorice again shows along with a goodly dose of coffee and demerara sugar. Nice bitterness and whilst this is indeed strong it is very smooth and very drinkable. Good beer. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0
