Bottle at Akkurat, December 2011. (best before Jan 06) Hit or miss? Slightly hazy reddish/brown with a small, brief head. Vinous aroma and taste, dried fruit, malt, toffee, port wine and some light notes of spices. Better than expected, not a hit but certainly drinkable.

Bottled (BB 01/2006, vintage 2000 sampled in April 2007)
Red ruby color, small off-white head. Toasted malts, berries, hints of alcohol and prunes. Ageing has made palate very smooth and creamy, almost liquer-like. Alcohol is almost non-existent. I can trace flavors of chocolate, vanilla, prunes and fudge. Sweetish aftertaste. This beer has aged great, absolutely fabulous vintage of NO Julöl.

Bottled (huge thanks to omhper!). Ruby red colour, small off-white head. Plum, raisins, alcohol, some marzipan and caramel malts in aroma. Flavour is plum, raisins, spices, caramel malts, toffee and some hints of yeast. A very wellbalanced and wellaged beer.

(50 cl bottle) Shared with a good friend on New Years Eve, he’s saved it for lots of years, now he shares it with me so I could rate it :) Best Before Jan 06Clear dark red brown color, tan head. Strong alcohol and acidic dark malt scent. Belgian ale yeast smell when swirled. Nice smooth sweet taste with some chocolate and dark malts aftertaste. No obvious alcohol taste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Warming alcohol gut feeling. The taste is like heaven, a great beer!

Sampled at the 2004 RESP Raisins and grapes in the aroma. Dark amber color, low carbonation creamy head. Milk chocolate flavors, some raisins and spice. Finishes on a light cognac note. Very nice.

Sampling of the 2000 Christmas version in March 2002. Very dark brown in colour. Big banana aroma. Sweet, crystalized sugar flavour. I believe this beer needs more time to mature, and get the flavours melted together. It is enough sugar in there, and the 8.1% alcohol should keep it developing for yet some time.

An abbey ale, not bad but less flowery and smooth than I would like. Some fruity, sweet malt and touch of bubblegum flavours.
