A hazy orange beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet yeasty and malty, with a slight hint of wheat, while the flavor is alcoholic and wheaty. OK, but nothing special. I am somewhat disappointed, since Nøgne Ø knows how to brew good beer.

500 ml bottle. A big improvement from the first attempt served at Oslo beer festival in 2003. The first version where to over-carbonated. This time the problem is to little carbonation. The brewers are aware of this and has not really made any afford to sell this beer. But a few pubs has managed to get a few samples for the most eager customers. The first sip is really promising, all the classic indigents of a superb triple are present. A yeasty, fruity aroma with a sweet pleasant alcoholic character. All in all a well balanced matured beer. Just a little minus for the lack of carbonation, and maybe a bit too sweet at the end of the bottle. For those of you who manages to get a matured sample this beer has changed a lot. My rating pass for the early stage of this beer.

500 ml bottle conditioned. The Trippel is finally for sale in some pubs and restaurants, not yet in Vinmonopolet stores. I sampled a premature bottle more than a year ago, but deleted my rating, as the beer was not made available to the general public at that time after all. But now it is available, and the beer pours hazy golden with a moderate head which vanishes after a while and leaves very little lacing. Very pleasant yeasty and fruity aroma with notes of oak and spices, hints of barnyard in the background. Flavour is sweet (a bit too sweet?) with an oaky and moderately spicy character. A certain alcoholic punch, not unpleasant. Subtle hops in the finish. I started drinking the beer a little colder than the recommended temperature, but liked it that way. Clearly another craft brew from the good people at Nøgne Ø, but I’d suggest a slightly less generous amount of demerara sugar in the next batch.
