Beer #19 of my 10,00th Beer Milestone Celebration! Pitch black coloured body with a big oily glow on top without much head at all, especially anything long-lasting with a fully opaque (90 per cent) glow of dark brown, due to the colour alone and seemingly no movement. Aroma of alcohol, rum, bourbon, chiles, vanilla, lactose, coffee, earth, raisins, molasses and a lot of roasted malt - but the aroma is great here and very complex in the nose. Full-bodied; Very strong earthy and nutty flavours show at first, but the alcohol, especially the rum and bourbon notes are quite strong with a big sweetness still from the vanilla, marshmallows and the figs with some noticeable heat towards the end from the chiles with a light complexity of peppers and spice at the finish - very nice indeed, and while strong, very interesting. Aftertaste is rich, super potent in terms of alcohol and sugars with a lot of malt as well, but the flavours and range here are great with a lot of sugars and alcohol, but it just about gets down, luckily in a format not larger than this! Overall, a very nice beer that has done well in the bottle for 'just' five years, but I wish I had another one already to keep longer, however I'll have to find this again and age it for 10+ years, given to how strong this STILL was, i'm curious on when it'll get milder. Great to sample now, however, on Father's Day and after this time in the bottle. I sampled this 33 cL bottle (i'm honestly happy it's not a full twelve ounces!) as Beer #19 [of 21 - 10 (for 10,000) of Each side of the 10,000 Beer Milestone and the 10,000th itself!] of my 10,000th Beer Milestone, purchased from Dominion Wine & Beer in Falls Church, Virginia on 31-January-2018 for US$11,99, with the tagline 'PIRATEBOMB' 'TN1' '2017' on the top of the bottle and sampled at my house here in Washington on Father's Day, 18-June-2023.

Backlog May 2017. Black body under a small beige head. Nice aroma, dark malt, coffee, Rum, green pepper, vanilla and some wood. Taste goes in the same direction, sweet and warming alcohol with all the same malt, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and Rum taste. The chili heat is moderate and quite pleasant. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste.

(Bottle) Black colour with no head. Malty, roasty, vinous nose with notes of dark chocolate, rum, black coffee, caramel, liquorice, coconut, green pepper, orange peel and a touch of tamarind. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with dark chocolate, black coffee, rum, vanilla, salty liquorice, a touch of chilli and a vinous, warming finish with a balanced cacao bitterness and a slight chilli heat. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. I wouldn't say it's the most balanced beer around, but rich, complex and powerful, with chocolate, coffee, rum and chilli. Great beer.

Appearance is black, with a small brown head which goes quickly. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, rum, vanilla, leathery malt, toffee, biscuity malt, roast dark malt, liqueur chocolate, boozy dark fruits. Taste is rich chocolate fudge cake, vanilla beans, toffee, caramel shortbread, chocolate sauce, roast malt, thick sweet and fudgy, chilli heat, chewy finish with lingering chilli. Fantastic stuff.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a tan head. Cacao, coffee, chocolate, rich hazelnut, capsicum, pepper, coconut, rich molasses, bitterness, peppery, oak, rum, fruit cake, ancho chile, fruity red wine. That’s probably enough notes. Body is a touch thin but I’m nitpicking. Excellent way to mark 5000 rates!

Bottle pour. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head that dissipates. Great nose with fudge, coffee and chili pepper notes. Lots of oak and fudge as it warms. The palate is a different story however. Lots of smoked chili, oak and boozy rum notes. Lingering smoked ham. Not sure what is going on with this batch but it doesn't seem up to the standard that Prairie had set with previous batches.
