A flavoursome cider made potent in the oak of a Glen Moray whisky cask with lingering tastes to be savoured. A gentle whisky flavour initially intermingles with subtle, medium dry cider, giving way to the distinctive full bodied flavour of the cask; finishing overtones of whisky. It offers all the flavour of the cask whilst keeping the light, fruity aspect of all the Thistly Cross Ciders.

--Cask at The Lawrence Arms, Southsea. -- Clear golden, no head. Fruity nose with rope apples and mild peat. Sweet with medium to full body and rounded mouthfeel, still. Ripe apples, some peat and oak. Warming finish. Not much depth, but the whisky cask lifts it.

Gravity pour from a box on 6th October 2023: Anvil, Shifnal. Golden pour, no head. Didn't really get any Whisky notes, but it's fine.

Utterly clear golden liquid but sporting a snowwhite foam whilst pouring; still. Pouring already gives a dry, tarry, almost tannine-like nose - rather than alcohol. Sweet, not dry; dried apples from last years' harvest, sweet grain, and in the background the almost smokey whisky. Long-lasting sweetness. Dry-ish impression all the same - short of phenolic. Builds a film on the mucoses. Quite interesting cider. Yet; Glen Moray being a quite discreet, subtle whisky, I cannot help wondering what an Islay cask might have yielded. Thanks to Joren!

Tap at the White Swan, JDW, Solihull. Poured a crystal clear yellow straw colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is green apple. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a crisp, fresh, fresh apple, acidic, light herbal palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.
