Bottle: Unfiltered This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

Liquorice aroma. Chocolate, coffee, citrus en lots of liquorice in the taste. Bit tart. Highly carbonated. Delicious and complex trappist ale. You can't taste the alcohol at all.

Flaska från Beergium, vintage 2015. Något mörkare bärnstensfärgad, klar med högt smutsvitt skum. Äpple, päron, gröna druvor, druvmust, te. Snällt estrig, fruktig och söt. Perfekt bordsöl.

Bottle pour into tulip glass from Total Wine & More, Danvers. Appearance is lightly hazy (fine dark particulates) dark orange/light brown with nice, lively sparkle, 2-finger off-white frothy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong candied sugar and caramel, milder tart fruit. Taste is strong candied sugar and caramel, sweet and tart fruit, mild alcohol. Palate is light bodied with thin, frothy texture (like effervescent champagne) with lively-to-fizzy carbonation, finish as taste. Overall, strong and sweet but I just wanted to let it sit for half an hour or so for the carbonation to ease. Would be better a bit fuller and less carbonated. Still enjoyable.

Smell- medium to weak, herbal, sweet some caramel. Foam- thin, large in mouth, sweet, some bittersweet notes, Quite large, creamy orange color, brown, white. Quite active. Appearance- hazy medium dark, orange, brown. Taste- sweet, herbal, caramel, citrus, orange, caramel. Very good, feels bit dry, still amazing beer. Unique bottle cap, bonus for that. Old score: 7/5/8/4/16=4.0 Re-rated later based on the checklist. Smell- weak, Belgian, malt, caramel. Foam- thin, Belgian, malt, bit acidic. Head is medium white-brown-ish color, goes away fast. Appearance- beer-specific bottle cap, apart from that bottle is quite simple. Cloudy orange-brown color with some sediment. From - snifter Taste - weak citrus, malt Belgian, faint sourness, caramel. Not as good I had thought it to be before, but still decent.

certainly different than the 8. Tastes significantly lighter. it is quite earthy as well, doesn’t have quite the caramel-bubblegum belgian yeast flavour i like. the tea flavour does complement the earthy though. online belgian beer factory bottle. Upgraded from 3.5 march 2019
