Bottle stored for a decade or so I think, consumed in the garden, 13th July 25. Pours a rich, dark golden clear lambic. Aroma is funk, brett, sweet fruits, farmyard. Taste is oily, tart, mellow, brett, funk and fruit, earthy and very complex, well layered with a touch of sweetness. Excellent lambic

Sampled as Boon Vat 44 (purchased by me in Belgium on 16-August-2013 [almost 10 years ago] sampled on 21-May-2023) Beer #10 of my 10,00th Beer Milestone Celebration! Mostly clear apricot and light copper coloured body with a beautiful amber glow that shows a very small pure white head that fades immediately and leaves nothing up top, even after a few seconds. Aroma of super funky, spontaneously fermented yeasts with a lot of tart, grassy and wheatie gueze notes with some light berries noticeable along with a perfumey kick and some alcohol and light pine notes towards the end - but quite complex in the nose, from the spontaneous fermentation alone, of course. Medium-bodied; Assertive funky, dry, grassy, herbal and perfumey notes show up front with a big funky, yeastie flavour with some light malts, a good deal of soft sugars and a touch of hay towards the end with spruce and pine even noticeable at the finish, but robust throughout and funky. Aftertaste is dry, but not as sour, tart or fruity as I expected with a light malt kick and some soft alcohol notes with a slight bitterness as well, seemingly from the hops, but the yeasts and sour notes don't come through at all at the finish. Overall, a decent enough, soured, funky and tart beer with some light blueberry elements with a light malt backbone and a herbal finish with some good complexity from the yeast, but a bit less funky, soured and tart than I was expecting and a dry finish throughout, but not too interesting, considering the age. I'm glad to finally sample this bottle, which I bought when I only had one daughter and she wasn't even a single year old, when we took her to Belgium for the first time and I came home with this bottle (and others), which I now sampled this 37,5 cL bottle as Beer #13 [of 21 - 10 (for 10,000) of Each side of the 10,000 Beer Milestone and the 10,000th itself!] of my 10,000th Beer Milestone, purchased from de Hop Duvel in Gent, Belgium on 16-August-2013 for €5,00, bottled as Vat 44 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 21-May-2023.

As VAT 44. A hazed golden lambic with no head. In aroma, nice tart mix of ground cherry, horse blanket, Brett, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet mix of cork, horse blanket, leather, Brett, very nice and complex.

Oude Geuze VAT 44 Mono Blend. 375ml bottle. First Released. Vintage 2008 (4 december), bottled on 2010. Pieknie pachnie wyraznie skora fotela, kobiece seksowne stopy, i nieco domowa nalewka z pigwy, W smaku slodowosc pszeniczna z kontra kwaskowo-wytrawna, jest to niesamowicie idealnie wywarzone piwo, balans miedzy slodowoscia a kwaskowoscia niemal idealny, Bardzo przyjemne i choc ostre w pierwszej chwili, potem sie uklada i w miare fajnie komponuje sie do gotowanej golonki z indyka. Mimo ze spodziewalem sie wiekszej zadziornosci ze strony dzikusow to jest to dobry wytrawny lambic.

Zajebiscie ta buteleczka poszla, a la golden blend serowe nutki, w smaku jednak ostrzejsza, winogronowa, nieco taniczna... slomiana dzikosc... nieprzegieta, owocowa kwasnosc, nieco cytrynowa w wydzwieku. Nie taki wytrawny wcale... piekne piwerko.

Corked bottle Boon Vat 44. Golden color. Lemon, honey and a hint of oak in the aroma. The slightest hint of raspberry. Only moderately sour honeyish flavor with oak and citrus. Complex, but I like my geuze a bit more sour. 9 4 8 3 15 = 3.9 Geuze Boon Vat 77. Corked bottle. Had this instead of the usual bottle of champagne just after midnight on new years day. Lemon, honey and peach in the very well rounded aroma. Rounded sours, oak, lemon, honey, hints of strawberry. Very well balanced.
