Brewed in collaboration with our friends from Engine House 9 in Tacoma, with Pilsner, Munich, and dark specialty malts. Hoped with Hallertau and Tettnang. This strong German alt style beer went under an extended cool fermentation with our favorite kolsch yeast. After a period of lagering, it was transferred into drowned Midnight Still bourbon barrels and left to agree for two months.

Draught@TCBW2022. Deep brown colour with a mediumsized lasting beige head that leaves some lace. Aroma is toasted, some chocolaty tones with rye and mild alcohol sweetness to it as well. Flavour, well, follows the aroma quite hand in hand as for the elements. Very smooth, very drinkable. Strong, but what the hell, quaffable!

Tap at TCBW. Dark brown colour and steady beige head. Malty a bit chocolaty aroma. Medium-bodied. Malty, a bit sticky, ryeish flavour. Alcoholic kick. Nice malt bomb.

On tap at Holy Mountain, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out burnt bready malt, dry toffee, and toasted caramel. Flavour is complex, with a deep caramel malt profile, burnt toffee; and bready malt. Deep malt profile with lots of dry and slightly burnt caramel and toffee. Fantastic for the style.

Re-rate after a rancid butter version at E9 in 2018. Medium brown and bright. Not much head. Toasty nose with some caramel. Some alcohol beefiness, dark sugars but it's not rich. Some rounded woody accents. Not as good as the Uerige one, but better by far than the first time I had it a few years ago.

Draft pour at Holy Mountain. Gotta be one of the most intriguing breeders in this style, as well as the most well executed. Dark chocolate brown pour with as working oily fizz head. Some chocolate, nutty malt on the aroma. Flavor really sells me on this one. Full oon caramel, chocolate, and bourbon that remains mellow and flavorful. In no way harsh. Lingering nutty, bready grains, more hints of bourbon that stay the longest. Such a pleasant offering here. Most memorable alt on my short experience with them, that’s for sure. Lutton, you’ll want to catch an early flight back for this one.
