Bottle. Color: Black, thin beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, coffee. Taste: A lot of coffee, mocha, roasted malt. Over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness. Dry, almost a bit powdery finish. Just over medium body, just below average carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden. Ok.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, chocolately, dark and caramel malty, slightly fruity aroma, notes of dark chocolate, dark caramel, some coffee, a touch of burnt coffee, cocoa, yeasty fruity hints of cherry. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally alcoholic, dark and caramel malty, notes of dark chocolate, dark caramel, some coffee, burnt coffee, a dusty touch of cocoa, yeasty fruity hints of cherry, a touch of plum; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Slightly viscous texture, smooth and soft palate, medium to fine, soft carbonation. Relatively simple, monotonous, rather burnt coffee flavours, nice fruitiness - decent.

Best before 01/10/2022, Batch 63-64, 330ml bottle, Imperial Porter with cherries and coffee;

AROMA: a combo of fruity esters, mild candied cheery and slightly bitter chocolate, coffee faded significantly (mild hints on the edges), toasted sugars, brown sugars & caramel, hints of cheery liquor, savory/umami note, moderately toasted bread, bread crust, a faint hint of caramelized onions, stale cola vibe, pear drop, hints of oatmeal, no obvious hop profile or roast on the nose

TASTE: smooth carbonation, fluffy bubbles, lightly silky & creamy feel but also slightly thin on the mouthfeel, medium body; moderate sweet onset of toasted sugars, caramel, light cheery flavor with soft tartness, dark chocolate with fifteen percent cocoa solids, barley coffee, medium light bitterness from roasted, toasted malts & hops (mild earthy & grassy notes), alcohol is remarkably well hidden; more natural cherry pops up as it warms up with soft ”acidic” touch, hints of butterscotch mixed with fruity esters, mineral notes, subtle nutty presence - walnuts, lingering dark chocolate & subtle woody coffee in the aftertaste, light dryness

OVERALL: harmonious & well rounded imperial porter; of course, this is not an IS therefore slightly lighter on body & mouthfeel; dangerously drinkable and enjoyable brew

Bottle from Rotsaert, Zedelgem, Belgium. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Rosty, malty, chocolate, coffee aroma and taste. Slightly sour/bitter, not a bad effort from Verzet.

Thick-set darker beige head over virtually black beer. Woody nose, ink, cardboard. Liquorice, faint sourish alleviation; but with a lot of dark malts and melanoidins, appearing heavier than it ought to be, certainly with the alcoholthinning. Pretty slick, dry finish, medium to well-carbonated. Dry - but again one I don't get what the idea was. Thanks to Stef!
