13 December 2019. Christmas Beer Evening with the lovely Anke! Pours hazy black with a slowly diminishing, yellowish beige head. Aroma of chocolate powder, fig, mocha, biscuit, peanut, chestnut, earth, sour cherry, blackberry, clove, brown bread. Taste has fruity sweet notes of fig, raisin, dried banana & cherry over a biscuity, chocolate powder-like, toasty maltiness, bittersweet notes of coffee, herbs & spices. Dry, herbal-earthy hoppy finish, lingering chocolate, toast & dried fruits, rather strong vodka-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Another interesting brew by Verzet, although I feel the execution is a bit crude. I won't hesitate to retry anyway.

Bottle shared in the Flixbus away from Brussels. Nice looking bottle. Dark roast, coffee, licorice, blackberries, earthy, soft alcohol, tar, maybe some cherries but I get more berry-like notes here. Over medium sweet and bitter, light sour. Almost full bodied. Decent stuff, but it's a little rough.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a black colour with a tint of red and a thin dark beige head. Nice lacing. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is very much the same with very strong espresso coffee notes, more dark chocolate, more roasted notes, nuts, toasted brown bread, spirit barrel notes and very faint cherries. Medium bodied with a very smooth slick oily mouthfeel. Very light carbonation on the palate. Thin beige head lasts all the way down the glass. Really good! A drink to sip, savour and enjoy on a winter’s evening.
