This delicately balanced Strong Ale starts with dark copper color mixed with slight reddish hues and a light tan head. Big malty aroma with a Munich character give way to a slight caramel & toffee mixed with spicy noble hop aroma, all wrapped together with a medium-bodied mouth feel. German malt flavor profile with slight roasty notes give Pray for Snow a subtle toffee sweetness balanced with spicy hop bitterness and slight alcohol warming. Served appropriately in a classic snifter.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours darkly ruddy with a slight tan head. Aroma is malty with a little spice. Med + body. Flavor is quite malty, but there’s some spicy hop. Malt is rather treacle. A little maltier and it might pass for a doppelbock. This one is drinking very nicely.

Bomber from Albertons. Pours a somewhat clear dark copper color with a large beige head. A nose of toffee, berries, some molasses. The flavor is sweet malts, berries, some light bitter roast, a bit of dry leaves, smoke. Very smooth. Coca-cola aspects. Good brew.

Bottle from Albertson’s. Poured into Duvel tulip. Dark brown / ruby red with slim, oily head. Aroma reminds me of Belgian dubbel , malt, molasses, cinnamon. Smooth with a small hops kick at the end, with some alcohol warmth. A nice winter warmer.

On Tap at the Boise BP Clear mahogany with a thin but creamy light tan head. Nice sweet caramel brown sugar, and a little apple butter malt aroma. Sweet woody flavor, brown sugar again, and caramel. A little earth leather type notes but overall soft and sweet. Very lightly hopped, that posted 75IBU has got to be a typo. Tasty though.

Bottle at Chriso tasting (thanks initially to Bird) 18/11/12. Lightly hazed dark amber with a thin off white head that clears to the edges and forms a film. Mose is malts, toffee and a little spice. Tastes of toffee, malts, caramel - a little bland and muted in flavour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, smooth on the palate. Ok.

Bottle at Chriso Tasting, London. Pours clear, light brown with a sturdy, off-white head. Semi-dark malt nose, some ripe fruits. Medium sweet flavor with toasted bread, light brown sugar and dry, ripe fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Balanced finish, not too sweet, more toasty bread. Very good beer.

Draught. Poured dark brown with thick white head. Much lacing. Malty aroma, with something else, like the aroma of a fine unlit Havana cigar. Full bodied flavour, malt, cocoa, and ’n bietjie molasses. Malty finish. I loved this and hope they’ll bottle it.
