Named after the River Effra, which now flows deep beneath urban Brixton, our fresh and feisty amber ale is perfect for deep thirsts. It’s all about balance with this one; fusing a rich malt base with a complex blend of hops, Effra is aromatic, uplifting and goes down incredibly easily. Zesty hops with dark malts for a smooth mouthfeel. English tradition meets New World flair. 35.5 EBC.

Bottle from London Beer Lab. Hazy amber-brown with a large, craggy off-white head. Pleasant aroma of piney American hops with a little caramel. Caramel and pine continue on tasting with some lemon, jam, chocolate and a light roast. Spoilt a little by a rather metallic bitterness in the finish but nevertheless it’s ok overall.

330ml bottle. Hazy amber colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Resinous, piney and herbal hoppy aroma. Taste is dry hoppy, astringent, woody, resinous, piney, close to, but not really nutty, the same is true concerning fruitiness; slightly papery and chalky finish. Natural, crafty, somehow "bio" and/or "öko", but not really tasty.
