On tap at the source, July 2016. Pours clear deep ruby amber with a thin beige head. Aroma: lots of bourbon, brown sugar, raisisn, oak, like a boozy fruitcake. Taste: raisins, bourbon barrel, fruitcake, cherry, dark fruits, oak, brown sugar. Medium body with light carbonation. Lovely

On tap. Pours a dark reddish brown with light head. Aromas of sherry/vermouth, old vinous wood and alchohol. Very oxidized flavors follow same with additional dry dark fruit. Not a fan. Glad I didn’t grab a bottle.

This has bright tartness, light fruit, a lot of wood. Quite lactic, just a touch of acetic. Ok brew, I’d like the fruit to stand out more.

Bottle at Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar (W. Broadway), Vancouver
Cloudy dark brown color. Nice aroma of dark fruits, acid. Smooth mouthfeel, strong body, highly carbonated, some light caramel, light residual sweetness, sour, vinous, dark fruits.
Very good.

Rating #6500! Deep dark brown coloured body with an amazingly nice ruby and violet glow and tint, all with a nice, and relatively fast-dying tan head, only about one to two centimetres tall. Aroma of super nice and tart cherries, raspberries, gueuze, grain, pitted fruits, light hops, alcohol, funk and a good deal of oak, vanilla and barrels - very nice and incredibly complex in the nose. Medium-bodied; Assertive funk and barrels in the flavour as well with oak, vanilla and bourbon all noticeable, but that gives way to a nice and delicate blend of fruits with prunes, plums, apricots and then some of the lighter berries also noticeable that lend the smallest amount of tartness you could imagine, but definitely noticeable. Aftertaste is the delight of this one with a good amalgamation of sour, tart, boozey, malty and sweet at the end showing a good balance throughout without too much of any of these characteristics with a nice smooth finish that doesn't show nearly double-digit alcohol percentages, just a nice complexity and mellow tartness which blends the style lines here. Overall, a very nice and complex beer that seem to have done quite well with aging extra on your own, as the complexity is definitely there, without any astringent flavours or pungency in terms of alcohol or biting bitterness. Great to sample now, around the Christmas season, and of course, as a 'special' rating (#6500!). I sampled this wax-sealed 37,5 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 10-March-2015 for US$13,51 a few weeks after my second daughter was born, sampled a few weeks after my first son was born, on 03-December-2017. Bitter from Rakuten. A deep reddish brown with virtually no head the aroma is oaky sweet, tangy berries and molasses. Light bodied abut silky. As it warms it really melded and became super-well integrated with a sweet oaky bourbon and tangy berries. On point and it definitely grew on me in a big way. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
