Bottle, Londis, Penny Lane, Liverpool. Dark amber looks with a mid range off white head. Some fragrant hop in the nose in tandem with notes of grass and caramel. Sweetish flavour with some bready notes alongside some piney hop, fruits and caramel. Rather earthy bitterness. Better than anticipated for some reason and not without some charm.

Fonefan 251014. Pale amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is malt, caramel, orange, pine. Flavour is sweet, malt, peaches, pine, orange, grapefruit, caramel, lemon. Medium body. OK beer.

Leave it to Anchor to make an IPA I like. Rich copper color. bg fresh citrus nose, light resin, spices, vague fruitiness. Full sweet toffee like malts, cookie-ish, balanced with spicy citrus rind hop flavors. Balanced rounded finish. Throwback to the old Ballantine IPA.

355 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Albert Heijn. BBF 11/2xxx (I cannot read the rest). Lightly hazy bright amber, creamy beige head, solid biggish head. Nose is fruity mango hops mixed with pine resin, sticky & light herbal malts / caramel, light bitter cough syrup. Both typical as well as slightly unique hop profile. Nice. Taste is a big sweet, bitter herbal caramel, light cough syrup, resin bitter, light bubblegum, thick malts, caramel,… Bitterness is clearly herbal. Touch light body. It is a bit too sweet for what it is & could have been more outspoken. Faint metallic, herbal,… Maybe if it were fresher,…. ? This has def. potential but it isn’t quite there. It almost feels like a weak & sad version of their glorious Old Foghorn Ale.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours with a small tan aroma is pine and herbal hoppy. Dry toasted malty. Bitter and slight herbal. Dry and bitter. Dry and herbal finish.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2015) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with grapefruit, pine needles, resin, caramel and rye bread. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, grapefruit, orange peel, hints of rye and a generous piney/resiny bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, but possibly a bit sharp. Nice one.

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy, dark amber colour with a big, compact, ivory head. Flowery aroma with dried fruit, berries, rye bread, caramel and pine. The flavour has more pine needles, fudge, leather and grassy hops. Has a slick mouth feel, and a balanced bitterness. A rich and well-balanced IPA. More on the malty side.

Bottle. Clear copper with a fluffy off white head that lasts well. Aroma of oranges, spices, bread, some berries, grass. Kind of tame aroma, but hops are much more intense than expected from the aroma. Grapefruit as well as oranges and spices, bread, some earthiness. Dry and very bitter finish. Lots of interesting things going on here, not least of which is how untrendy it is.
