The world needs heroes, and in our home state of Florida only a very special hero will do. A hero with a shark tooth around his neck, a Grim Reaper tattoo on his arm, and a rap sheet longer than his mama’s mustache. A hero who’s forgotten more about amateur taxidermy and alligator rasslin’ than you’ll ever know. What better way to pay tribute to our beloved Florida Man than with a big ol’ Double India Pale Ale brewed with a nearly-criminal amount of hops and a moderate bitterness that just about matches Florida Man’s general disposition. This hopped-up whopper of a beer is big in character and guaranteed to sear itself into your memory, just like “the world’s worst superhero,” Florida Man.

Can from Brewcraft at home during quarantine. Had with the Oskar Blues Can-O-Bliss DIPA. Slightly translucent orange-amber pour (more orange than the Can-O-Bliss). Aroma is honeydew, booze, dank bitterness, sweet biscuit malt - very nice. Taste is sweet and dank and bitter, with pronounced alcohol. Pine and biscuit dominate more than on aroma. Slightly rich palate. Very good, slight favorite over the more zesty Can-O-Bliss.

Can. Light haze on this gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Light smooth malts, a light creamy sweetness. Hops are ... very well put together. A floral limey thang I would attribute to the Kiwi hop Pac Jade. Decent layered citrus, orange and tangerine. Mild grapefruit. What brings it all together is one of my new favourite hops - Lemondrop. That sharpish Lemon zest tempered by a little floral lemon and lemon sherbet. Smooth light finish. Yeah - very good hop blend and hiding the abv very well indeed.

Burk från SB. Fruktig doft och smak med mango, ananas och tangerin. Medelstor kropp, sötma och beska och välgjord och egentligen helt ok. Men kanske trött eller endimensionell för det lyfter inte riktigt.

12oz canned 1/27/20. Cloudy orange-tan body, floaties. Thin off-white head. Big, bold, juicy aroma, some pineapple, mango, peach. Downright juicy, a pretty solid IIPA. Some alcohol warmth in the finish, but still pretty drinkable for the ABV. Good.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a clear orange gold with a full 2 fingers of white foam that dissipates to a ring. Nice lacing down the glass. Orange marmalade aromas with some light pine and faint pineapple notes. West-coast styled body - light and refreshing. More citrus, honey and warming alcohol. Pine and pith on the finish with some of the 8.5% noticeable.

City Florida Man Quite hazy golden, peach and bronze coloured body with a very thin, super fast-dying pure white head. Aroma of grass, pine, light grapefruits, flowers, a dash of hay and a little hint of alcohol with some astringent and medicinal scents as well. Medium-bodied; Strong grapefruity and citrusey flavours dominate with a lot of grass, hay and floral dryness throughout, along with a largely supportive malt backbone and some sweetness, derived from fruit, but staying flavourful throughout and balanced. Aftertaste is dry, but very balanced, incredibly nuanced and flavoured exceptionally well, especially in terms of citrus, grapefruity and grassy flavours. Overall, a very nice and pungent true Imperial IPA that hits the right notes and is balanced, while still showing and hiding the alcohol. I would recommend this one to anyone who finds it and is a fan of old-school Imperial IPAs, as this is a great example! I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 11-March-2020 for US$5,00.
