The world needs heroes, and in our home state of Florida only a very special hero will do. A hero with a shark tooth around his neck, a Grim Reaper tattoo on his arm, and a rap sheet longer than his mama’s mustache. A hero who’s forgotten more about amateur taxidermy and alligator rasslin’ than you’ll ever know. What better way to pay tribute to our beloved Florida Man than with a big ol’ Double India Pale Ale brewed with a nearly-criminal amount of hops and a moderate bitterness that just about matches Florida Man’s general disposition. This hopped-up whopper of a beer is big in character and guaranteed to sear itself into your memory, just like “the world’s worst superhero,” Florida Man.

Appearance is golden, hazy, a small foamy white head. Aroma is lots of mango, pineapple, orange, peach, tropical fruit, plenty of hops, some maltiness in there too. Taste is overripe fruit, mango, pineapple, stewed orange, bitter hops, hop resin, sticky fruity malt, sweet fruit, almost a little syrupy.

12 ounce can. Hazy orange gold color. Frothy beige head. Fragrant citrus hop aroma. Big bittersweet citrus hop flavor upfront. Notes of lemon, lime, grapefruit and kiwi fruit. Lots of hop bitterness throughout, indicative of the 80 IBU’s. Piney, astringent finish.

355ml can from Bernie's (Shirley, Brum): According to James Clay the BBD is 14th Apr 2021, so I opened this three days after then, at home while preparing a BBQ. Really enjoyed the hoppy flavour of this DIPA, it just sat right. Hazed amber/golden body, decent head at first. Bitter hop front, kind of exotic fruitiness in the nose with a piney twist; taste follows the same lines, yet keeps the bitterness. Liked it.

Can dated 2/20/21. Super hazy, yellowish. Nose tends fruit, peaches, melons. Flavor similar with that soapy pineapple that's very popular these days. Low bitterness for a DIPA, but I guess this is more of a double hazy IPA. Def has a bit of juiciness at the end, and someone compared it to marmalade below and that's not far off the mark for me. A tad sweet, a tad unbalanced. I wish it had some bitterness. Lingering alcohol warming, consistent with the 8.5. Has a hop liqueur thing kinda going on, which really shouldn't be a thing. This is kinda sad really.

16 oz. Aroma has notes of cantaloupe, peach, mango, orange creamsicle, grain, bread. Pours hazy golden with a one finger soapy off white head with good retention. Taste has a moderate pithy bitterness backed by some moderate candy sweetness.
