Rich, muddy amber coloured body with tints of copper, bronze, gold at the bottom and some ruby at top - very nice look, all with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of raisins, nuts, earth, dates, figs, alcohol and a hint of peat - strong and nice. Medium to Full-bodided; Strong date and raisin flavours throughout with a lot of deep fruit sweetness, some lighter malt notes and a bit of musty, basementy/mushroomy flavours like an old ale soon afterwards. Aftertaste shows a good complexity of sweetness, alcohol, plentiful malt and some of the light spices with no harsh bitterness. Overall, a very nice beer with some good sweet notes, quite the complexity and the earthiness that make it a good beer to slowly enjoy. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Tustin, California on 02-May-2013 for US$6.99 sampled at home in Washington on 26-July-2013.

Bottle thanks to Tim, pours hazy Brown with a medium tan head, good legs. Aroma is Belgian yeast, candies sugar and dates. Flavor is much same, rich and sweet with the dates adding nice character to the beer. Awesome stuff.
