Sample at the Aces & Ales Winter Beer Fest on 01/16/2015. The beer pours a dark murky mahogany color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, roast malt and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and earthy hops. The finish is malty up front with a slightly fruity hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

Enjoyed on tap as a sampler pour at Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach, CA. Really nice barley wine, appearance a marky caramel amber with almost no head. Aroma rich in syrupy caramel malt and abundant and diverse hops. Taste goes down relatively smooth and straight up potent. Gets better as it warms. Wish I could've had a proper glass, but I would've been annihilated :)
