Bottle at home kind courtesy of Maakun. Black with little greyish head. Deep roasted dark malts, charcoal, sour wood, very dry and bit sandy feel. Light sweet within the roastiness, sour fruity and woodiness on the outlines. Medium body, bit chalky, grainy and very earthy, near horse or even cow poopy with soft carbonation. If I was tasked to come up with a name for this beer I’d go for Potgrond Blond and brag about the fertilizer taste on the label. Surely that wouldn’t make sense but I’d enjoy it so much I’d probably do it anyway. Very interesting to taste the similarities in this dark beer and the 3 Fonteinen gueuze. The horsey poo sweaty moldy earthy funk is definitely reminiscent of the gueuze but in such a different context it stands out very different and much on its own. A bit like how pebble stones smell good when you cuddle them. In that regard I’m sorry for those who try this as their first 3 Fonteinen beer. It’s like a difficult art piece from an artist who has your highest regard, but you somehow understand it’s a necessity. Anyway, after trying some of the other buttplug bottles from 3 Fonteinen my expectations were on the lower side and this is actually quite a nice and interesting drink. And the wild yeast lived long and happily everly after. THE END.

33 cl bottle served in half pint glass at La Tape, Madrid. It pours pitch black with reddish shades. Thick, long-lasting, moka-coloured head. Very intense scents of portobello mushroom (Agaricus brunnescens), prunes, espresso coffee, black chocolate, cola, even parsley. No liquorice, though. Taste is very fresh (I presume it’s the lambic yeast), low-carb, great bitterness despite the sourness and umami. Long finish with hints of coffee, cola and blackberry. Very nice porter.

330ml bottle [from bartlebier.fr, thank you very much!]. Darkest brown colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Complex dark malty and yeasty aroma, notes of coffee beans, cocoa powder, fruity notes of plum and blue grapes, lots of subtle flavours from cinnamon via marmite and treacle to balsamico. Taste is tart-ish, roasty dark malty with subtle sweetness, yeasty overtones. a vinous touch, notes of coffee beans and espresso, cocoa powder, fruity notes of plum, blue grapes and red berries, a touch of balsamico and cola, cautious hints of cinnamon and marmite. Very good.

Bottle. Light sourness, which does not seem noble to me, but rather like a beer heading down the spoilage avenue. Other than that it is sugary with moderate roast and considerable warmth.
