Orange color, big frothy head. Herbel aroma with seaweed. Bitter, slightly salty flavor with licorice. Malty sweet. Medium bodied. Long aftertaste. Certainly not bad.

From tap at Bierproeflokaal In De Wildeman in Amsterdam 17.02.16. Slightly hazy golden. Dense and persistent off-white head and lacing. Strong hops aroma, with sweet citrus, papaya, dried fruits, succade and sweet malt. Similar taste, with pronounced bitterness. Round and full mouthfeel. Well balanced, with drinkability.

Freshly bitter and quite dry and grassy beer, almost like a yeasty saison. Liked it.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 27 July 2013) Amber colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with toast, dried fruit and earthy, resiny hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, apricots, toast and earthy, resinous hops in the finish. A touch of cellar lurking in the background. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Well made. Quite nice.

Fairly clear bronze coloured body with a light orange glow and a thin, one centimetre tall plain white head. Aroma of pale malt, alcohol, rice and perhaps a touch of hops - not much though. Light-bodied; Assertive grape flavour with a little malt, some alcohol notes and a funky cardboard flavour. Aftertaste shows a lot of grape flavours, some light yeast notes and a hint of grassy hops - not much going on here at all. Overall, not too great with more of an emphasis on fruits than hops and the malt doesn’t blend well either - plus a bit too much alcohol flavours. I wish I would have brought something different back home - but still, nice to try from the other side of the pond. I sampled this 33 cL stubby bottle purchased from Cracked Kettle in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 03-January-2011 for €2,49 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the Atlantic on 02-July-2013.

Bottle at Huppel the Pub, Den Haag. Poured a slightly cloudy amber with a broken white head. The aroma is very malty, leading to a rich, malty, medium bitter flavour with a hint of sourness on the palate.

Bottle at Huppel. Pours murky light orange brown with an off white head. Aroma is malt in the forefront, with licorice, caramel and soy. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Certainly not your average bitter.

’Green’, fresh hop aroma. Flavour has sticky sweet sugars mixed with the hops. Some resin too. Overall is sweet and a bit fruity with bitter hop finish.
